About TischEins

A seat at the table.

Hi, I’m Frank. I’ve spent more than 35 years working in design and marketing, and I still enjoy finding something I don’t yet know how to do.

TischEins grew out of my love of conversation. The name means “Table One”: a place to sit down together, exchange ideas and see where an interesting conversation takes us. After years of exploring AI, I wanted somewhere to share that passion. Whether you’re an experienced designer, an artist, just getting started or simply curious, you’re welcome here.

My career has taken me through self-employment, freelance work and, most recently, a role designing print and digital media at one of Germany’s oldest printing companies. My time freelancing in large agencies shaped me especially. Working alongside talented, creative people challenged my own perspective and encouraged me to keep trying unfamiliar things.

That curiosity eventually led me to AI image-making. I remember playing with early tools such as NVIDIA’s GauGAN, then exploring models and workflows in ComfyUI. I’m still fascinated by how differently models respond to an idea, a few words or a reference image.

Today, I work with Midjourney, ComfyUI and other image and video tools alongside conventional design software, paper and pencil. My design background helps me judge an image and gives me the technical understanding to take it further. An unexpected result can become the beginning of a new piece of work.

I particularly enjoy prompting freely, experimenting with references and pushing models towards results I haven’t seen before. There’s pleasure in discovering a visual language you didn’t know you were looking for. I tend to know an image works when I see it: I notice something beyond the subject itself, where what’s visible begins to merge with what I feel. Perhaps that comes from a sense of taste, although it is, of course, only my taste.

Nature remains my greatest source of inspiration. Nothing is more creative. Conversations with artists and people interested in art matter just as much to me. Hearing another perspective can change the way I look at something I thought I understood.

Much of what I’ve learned over the years has come from people willing to share their knowledge. I want to return that generosity. Here, I share SREF discoveries, prompts, images and practical experience for others to explore and make their own.

TischLog began as a way to archive the SREF codes and prompts I wanted to keep. Once I had that collection, I wanted to share it too. First came the website, then the magazine. One thing led to another, simply because it was possible and because I enjoyed doing it.

There is a paid TischLog subscription for those who want earlier access and would like to support the work. I also share the discoveries and material for free, a little later. That lets me keep sharing while earning a little coffee money along the way.

I’m also interested in what we can make together beyond the screen. I’ve worked with other creatives on exhibitions and interactive installations, and I’d love to explore more projects in the physical world. A conversation about an image, an exchange of techniques or an idea for a collaboration can all be worthwhile reasons to pull up a chair.

That’s the invitation behind TischEins. Take a seat, bring your curiosity and join the conversation.
